Naturalized Iris - the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens

By Mike Monninger, April 2009

Here are four photos I took on April 11 at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens in Claremont, California. Lee Lenz worked there for several decades, and the naturalized iris beds are the result of his work. The photos show Iris douglasiana and douglasiana hybrids. Many of the most impressive clumps, like the spectacular Iris munzii hybrids and the Sierra Sapphire III, have been lost during recent construction projects.
